Rock School

Ballyfermot College of Further Education is unique in that if offers a course developed for students who specifically aspire to become professional musicians and who want to learn about the Music Industry. This course is lovingly known as “The Rock School”, its official title being a HND in Contemporary Music Performance. It is a two year course.

It’s aimed at giving students an environment where they can develop self expression, musical composition, presentation and performance.  Live performances in the college and at city centre venues are an exciting and integral part of the course.

The course includes modules such as Band Coaching, Song Writing, Aural Perception and many more for the budding rock stars out there!

If you want to learn how to be a rock star, you’ll need a minimum of two Higher C3’s and three passes and Ordinary Level in the Leaving Cert.. Applicants will also have to do an audition.

The Rock School has many success stories, including Damien Dempsey and Mickey Harte, Mundy, and David Munnelly.
